Gift of Sonship!

I will be his father, and he will be my son. If he sins, I will correct and discipline him with the rod, like any father would do.
2 Samuel 7:14 NLT

I always wondered why David's case was different. Yes, he was a man after God's heart, He was quick to ask for forgiveness and change his ways.
But more than all what he did, it was because God called him "Son". 
A Yoruba proverb says, no matter how wicked a child is, you don't give the child to the lion as a meal.

As a believer, you are a son/daughter of God. Being God's own does not mean He won't correct or discipline you, it just means His love will continue to abound, and He would never leave you at the mercy of the enemy, no matter what you do.
Also, you must take to correction. You should welcome His discipline and stop doing things that break His heart.  

The gift of sonship is the highest calling in The Kingdom, never take it for granted.
