Entrust To God!
But Jesus, for His part, did not entrust Himself to them, because He knew all people [and understood the superficiality and fickleness of human nature], and He did not need anyone to testify concerning man [and human nature], for He Himself knew what was in man [in their hearts—in the very core of their being].
John 2:24-25 AMP
Many people have left church because of personal hurt, because someone disappointed them, or even because of a leader or pastor, they have left never to go back again. Even worse, some have left their Christian faith behind just because someone they looked up to failed them or fell from Grace.
The problem is that we place our trust in people at church, instead of trusting in God, hence, setting up for disappointment.
It is easy to think someone you hold in high esteem will never hurt or disappoint you. It's easy to assume that because someone seem more spiritual than you are, they will not succumb to temptations, or misbehave. While it is good to think the best of people, we need to remember that no one is perfect, and not give anyone that much trust that we lose our Christian faith just because the person didn't hold up to the pedestal we have placed them.
Jesus did not trust Himself to the disciple. While He loved them unconditionally and lived life with them, He knew that they were not perfect and He did not trust Himself to them in an unbalanced way. In fact, He recognised their shortcomings and prayed for them ahead.
God is the only One who is good, perfect, and will not disappoint. Don't give the trust that belongs to God to people. When you give yourself completely to God. He will help you deal with hurts and disappointment from people, it wouldn't overwhelm you to the point that you lose yourself or your trust in God. He will even lead you to pray for them.
Give your trust wholly to God!
